Apollonův chrám
Czechia
You come upon Apollo's Temple on a low rise, about 220 metres above sea level, on the bank of the Mlýnský rybník, the Mill Pond. It is one of the salets, the small ornamental buildings scattered across the Lednice-Valtice Area, a landscape inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list and lying close to the Czech-Austrian border. Small is relative, though. This neoclassical building from the early 19th century is described as monumental, and from the water's edge it looks it: a pale temple set above the pond, dedicated to the Greek god of light and music.
