Bartkův mlýn

Czechia

Bartkův mlýn stands in Nivnice, in the Uherské Hradiště district, on a modest stream called the Nivnička. At first glance it is a working rural mill complex: a dwelling house with a farm building beside it, partly built of stone and partly of brick. The reason people come looking for it is a single word on its record: possible. The mill is regarded as a possible birthplace of Jan Amos Komenský, the scholar better known abroad as Comenius. A memorial plaque was placed here in 1942, and since 1993 the mill has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
