Austria

You reach Burgruine Ried on a wooded knoll about a kilometre south of Ried am Riederberg, in the Wienerwald. The hilltop stands 320 metres high and pushes out north-west from the Klosterberg, and locals have long called it the Hausberg. The inner castle covers roughly 3,000 square metres, all raised and ditched in the manner of the earthwork strongholds of Lower Austria.
