Austria

Below them, five round-arched passages cut through blocks of dressed stone. This is the Äußeres Burgtor, the Outer Castle Gate, also called the Heldentor or Heroes' Gate. It was built between 1821 and 1824 as part of Vienna's city walls, between what is now Heldenplatz and the Burgring. The walls it once sat in were torn down to make way for the Ringstraße, which is why it now stands on its own, a gate with no wall to pass through.
