Cmentarz wojenny nr 46 - Konieczna-Beskidek
Slovakia
You reach this cemetery near the top of a hill, not in a village churchyard. Cemetery No. 46 sits in the Low Beskids, south-west of the village of Konieczna in the Uście Gorlickie district, on the north-eastern side of the summit of Beskidek, roughly 800 metres north-west of the Beskidek pass, also called Dujawa. Just beyond it, on the south-western side, runs the state border between Poland and Slovakia. Stand by the fence and one country gives way to the next a few steps away. The men buried here died in January and February 1915, in the middle of a mountain winter.
