Dietrichsteinský palác
Czechia
You find the palace at the top of Zelný trh, the Cabbage Market, one of the most important squares in Brno, tucked just below the cathedral. The site once held five separate houses. Between 1614 and 1618 they gave way to a single residence built for Cardinal František of Dietrichstein, Bishop of Olomouc, as one of his family's seats. Who drew the plans is less certain than it once seemed. The Italian-Swiss architect Giovanni Giacomo Tencalla was long assumed to be the designer, but that idea is now considered unlikely, so the original hand behind the building remains an open question.
