Dolní Věstonice
Mammoth hunters camped here 28,000 years ago — one of Europe's key Palaeolithic sites.
The Dolní Věstonice archaeological site lies beside the village of the same name in South Moravia, about 10 km north of Mikulov, and it is one of the best-known archaeological sites in central Europe. The remains of the mammoth hunters found here are estimated at 28,000 years old, and the finds come overwhelmingly from the Upper Palaeolithic. The site has been a national cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 2008.
