Havešová

Slovakia

Havešová is a beech forest that has been left to itself, in the Bukovské vrchy of north-eastern Slovakia, inside Poloniny National Park. It lies in the cadastral territory of two villages, Stakčínska Roztoka and Kalná Roztoka, in the Snina district. On paper its status has just changed. According to the source, the national nature reserve that protected it since 1964 was abolished as of 15 July 2026, when the ground became part of zone A of the national park. This was not a loosening. Strict protection continues under the new label. The trees have not noticed either way.
