Husův sbor
Czechia
Stand on Vršovické náměstí and look up: the first thing Husův sbor gives you is its tower. Four-sided, massive and more than 30 metres tall, it ends not in a spire but in a stylised square chalice topped with a cross, the emblem of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church that built it. The style is usually described as individualist modernism, drawing on functionalism with touches of constructivism. It is also one of the first buildings in Prague put up using prestressed concrete, and since 2022 it has been a protected cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
