Janáček Theatre
Janáčkovo divadlo
Brno's 1960s opera house, and the Philharmonic's stand-in concert hall.
The Janáček Theatre stands on Rooseveltova street beside Koliště park and Moravské náměstí. It was built in the first half of the 1960s to a design by the architect Jan Víšek and belongs to the National Theatre Brno. Opera and ballet are staged here, and because the city long lacked a large concert hall of its own, the Brno Philharmonic performs here too.
