Kaplnka sv. Michala
Slovakia
Walk round to the south side of St Elisabeth's Cathedral in Košice and you find a much smaller Gothic building standing in its shadow. Until 2006 it was called the Chapel of St Michael; today it is the Church of St Michael. It went up in the second half of the 14th century, dated to between 1340 and 1380, and after the Dominican church it is the second-oldest building in the city. Look up at the tympanum over the door: Michael the Archangel, patron of the dead, appears there alongside the apostles Paul and Peter.
