kostel sv. Václava
Czechia
The Church of St Wenceslas stands in the upper part of the village green in Hrusice, and the first thing to understand is that you are looking at two buildings at once. The core is Romanesque: a single nave, a semicircular apse and a prismatic tower, built no later than the years between 1225 and 1250. Over that sits a Baroque remodelling that changed its face. The churchyard that once surrounded it has gone, but its enclosing wall and gate remain, so you still enter the way parishioners did. The whole site is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
