Kostel svatého Antonína Paduánského
Czechia
You reach this church on foot, at the top of Malá Prašivá, the hill locals fondly call Prašivka, and what waits for you is smaller and plainer than its reputation. A rectangular nave of massive fir beams, a slightly narrower three-sided presbytery, a little turret over the triangular gable, the whole thing clad in wooden shingles against the weather. Yet this modest timber building is one of the most important pilgrimage places in the Těšín region. Its origin is a story rather than a plan: Count Jiří of Oppersdorf paid for it in 1640 as thanks for being saved from an enraged stag.
