kostel Vzkříšení Páně
Czechia
The church stands in the middle of the eastern side of Terezín's main square, today named Československé armády, and its tower is what you will have been steering by on the way in. The square prism rises to 56 metres and works as a landmark across the town's grid of streets. Above the portal the founding year is cut in Roman numerals, MDCCCV, which is 1805. Building ran from 1805 to 1810 in the Empire style, to designs by the engineer Heinrich Hatzinger and Count Julius d'Andreis. It began life not as a parish church but as the garrison church of the fortress, and it has been protected as a cultural monument since 1964.
