Měnínská brána
Czechia
Walk down Orlí street and you reach something Brno otherwise lost entirely: a city gate still standing where it was built to stand. Měnínská brána is the only one of the city's gates to survive. Brno once had five ways in through its walls, and when the walls and gates were pulled down bit by bit in the 19th century, this was the one left. What you are looking at is the last threshold of a medieval town that, by its own reckoning, had some of the most advanced fortifications in Europe when they were new.
