Palais Collalto
Austria
Palais Collalto is not a castle in any military sense but a city palace, standing at Am Hof 13 in Vienna's first district, the Innere Stadt. The Baroque front you see across the square is a second attempt. Until the facade was renewed between 1715 and 1725, the building was crowned by a triangular gable, which was taken down. So the long, level roofline you read from the cobbles is itself an alteration, the result of a remodelling rather than the original design.
