Puchart

Czechia

The ruin you are walking towards goes by several names, and that confusion is part of its story. Most likely it was originally called Potštát, after the town to its north-west. Locals and maps also know it as the Sudeten Castle or the Deserted Castle, and the name Puchart traces back to the early nineteenth century, when Josef Heřman Gallaš mistakenly recorded it as Purchart. The spelling has drifted again since then. Whatever you call it, the place is the same: a spur of rock above the point where the Koutecký brook meets the Velička, at the southern end of the Potštát rock town, roughly half a kilometre north of Boňkov.
