Řivnáč
Czechia
Řivnáč is a small hill with an outsized name. It rises just west of Žalov, near Roztoky in the Prague-West district of Central Bohemia, and it gave its name to an entire prehistoric people. Archaeologists call the Eneolithic, or Copper Age, Řivnáč culture after this hilltop because it was here that the culture was first recognised. When you stand on the summit, you are standing on the type site, the reference point against which settlements across the region are measured. It has been protected as a cultural monument since 1965.
