Schloss Lannach
Austria
Schloss Lannach sits in the Kainach valley, south-west of Graz, and at first glance it reads as a familiar Styrian type: a four-winged house built around its own enclosed heart, now a listed monument. Christof von Galler built what you see between 1590 and 1610, but the site is older. The lords of Lannach were established here from the fourteenth century, and the Galler family took over in the first half of the fifteenth. So the Renaissance block is a replacement, put up by a family that had already held the place for generations.
