Schloss Piber
Austria
Schloss Piber sits in the village of Piber, about two kilometres north-east of Köflach in the Voitsberg district of West Styria, right beside the parish church. It stands on a low hill whose fairly steep slopes were partly cut back by hand, so the ground itself has been shaped to lift the building above its surroundings. Since 1952 the castle has housed the administration of the Federal Stud Piber, the Bundesgestüt, and it also serves as an exhibition space and a concert venue. The horses are the reason most people come, but the building has a much longer story than its stable yard suggests.
