Schloss Wetzlas
Austria
Schloss Wetzlas does not announce itself as a fortress, because it never was one. What you find in this small Lower Austrian village is a classicist manor house, long and two storeys high, joined to its farm buildings and an astronomical tower so that the whole forms a courtyard closed on three sides. A park and a garden wall wrap around it. Its roots are agricultural: this was once a Meierhof, a manorial farm, converted into a residence around 1720–1725 by Freiherr Ignaz Philip von Ehrmanns, who held the lordship of Dobra.
