Seelackenmuseum
Austria
The farmhouse you walk into at the Seelackenmuseum did not start life here. The Wallnergut, a typical Pongau farmhouse, was built in 1738 in Schwarzach and stood there until 1988. It was then taken down and rebuilt on its present site in Sankt Veit im Pongau in 1992, keeping its original upper storey and its original roof, and it opened as a museum in 1994. So when you look up at the timbers overhead, you are looking at the same roof that once kept the weather off a farm family in another village. The building is now a listed monument.
