Šítkovská vodárenská věž
Czechia
You find it on the right bank of the Vltava in Prague's New Town, close to Jiráskovo náměstí, standing hard against the building of the Mánes Association of Fine Artists. It is also known as the Upper New Town water tower, and it rises from the grounds of the former Šítkov mills. Look up and the first thing to register is the Baroque cupola on top, a dark, rounded cap above a plain square shaft of stone. The second thing, if you stand back and let your eye settle, is that the whole tower is not quite upright.
