Steiner Tor
Austria
You are standing at the one that survived. The Steiner Tor is the last remaining city gate of Krems an der Donau, and it is regarded as the town's emblem. Until the last third of the 19th century a ring of walls enclosed Krems. That ring was then pulled down systematically, and three other gates went with it. This one stayed. When the town marked 700 years of its town rights in 2005, the gate was restored as faithfully to the original as possible, so what you see now is the result of a deliberate effort to look old in the right way.
