svatý Václav

Czechia

The Church of St Wenceslas does not have to work hard to be noticed. It stands on a gentle rise in the middle of Liblice, about 200 metres east of the village chateau, so the climb to its door is short and the view back takes in both buildings at once. The village first appears in the records in 1321, and the church was built in the Gothic style around 1384, the same year the local parish house is first mentioned. What you see today is that medieval church after a thorough Baroque makeover, and it has been protected as a cultural monument since 1966.
