svatý Václav

Czechia

Look for something small. The Church of St Wenceslas in Dejvice is a modest neo-Romanesque building that began life as a chapel and still serves as a little convent church in the second Prague vicariate of the archdiocese. It sits inside the old provost's court, the proboštský dvůr, so you reach it through a working farmyard rather than across a grand square. Its dating is slightly loose. One line of the source places it at the start of the 20th century, while another says it came into being at the end of the First World War. Even its consecration date is unknown, so the feast is kept each year on a customary substitute date at the end of October.
