Teplický zámek
Czechia
Stand in the inner courtyard and look down before you look up. Marked out on the ground is the floor plan of a basilica that no longer exists: the church of a Benedictine monastery founded here in the second half of the 12th century by the Bohemian queen Judith. It was the second-oldest house of its kind in Bohemia, and its siting was no accident, as it was bound up with the warm springs at nearby Schönau. Everything you see at Teplický zámek, the museum, the halls, the church, grew from that first religious foundation in the spa town of Teplice.
