U Kamenného zvonu
Czechia
Stand on Old Town Square at the corner where Týnská street opens, next to the Golz-Kinský Palace, and look for the bell. It is carved in stone and set into the corner of the building, and it gives house number 605 its name: U Kamenného zvonu, At the Stone Bell. What you are looking at is the surviving fragment of a far larger thirteenth-century residence, one that once reached as far as the house U Černého slona and partly stood where the Kinský Palace is now. It is not a castle in the usual sense. It is a Gothic town palace, and it has been a protected cultural monument since 1964.
