Umelecká galéria SVÚ

Slovakia

You find it at Dostojevského rad 2 in Bratislava, close to the Danube: a low composition of white cubes and red unrendered brick that looks more like a pavilion than a gallery. It was built between 1924 and 1926 for the Umelecká beseda slovenská, a society founded in 1921 to bring all the artistic disciplines together under one roof. Today the building belongs to the civic association Slovenská výtvarná únia, the SVÚ of the gallery's name, and it is listed as a National Cultural Monument.
