Valdštejnská zahrada
Czechia
You come in off the narrow streets of Malá Strana and the city simply stops. Valdštejnská zahrada is one of the most striking works of early Czech Baroque, laid out alongside the palace that now houses the Senate of the Czech Parliament. What greets you is an Italian-style garden divided by clipped hedges, with a pool, fountains, statues, a dripping grotto wall and, at the eastern end, a vast open loggia, the sala terrena. The garden is open to all from 1 April to 31 October, from 7 in the morning until 7 in the evening, and from 9 at weekends and on public holidays.
