Vlašský dvůr

Czechia

You find the Vlašský dvůr, the Italian Court, beside the Church of St James in Kutná Hora, and the name hides its real purpose. It is sometimes simply called the Kutná Hora Mint, and that is closer to the truth. At its heart is a former royal palace with a mint, founded by King Wenceslas II before 1300. Here silver was struck into Prague groschen and, later, thalers. Operations began in 1300 and ended in 1727. It is a small fortified royal seat rather than a sprawling castle, protected as a cultural monument and, since 1962, as a national cultural monument.
