Wieża Piastowska

Czechia

You climb 120 steps to reach the top of Wieża Piastowska, and by the time you step out onto the viewing terrace you have passed through nearly every layer of its history. This is the last survivor of four defensive towers that once stood on Castle Hill in Cieszyn, part of the upper castle of the Piast dukes. From the summit the town spreads out on both banks of the Olza, with Cieszyn on one side and Český Těšín on the other, and on a clear day the ridges of the Silesian Beskids and the Moravian-Silesian Beskids line the horizon. Entry is paid.
