Zámek Chuchelná

Czechia

Zámek Chuchelná sits right in the middle of the village, a two-storey house with a stone tower, wrapped in a park of 5.5 hectares. Most of that park lies behind a wall of red brick, but the south-eastern corner, cut off from the rest by the road into the village, is open to anyone. That is where you find the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross, the funerary chapel of the Lichnowsky princes and the pond. North of the house stands the old estate farm; to the east, the municipal office. Look closely at the main building, though, because it is not quite what it seems. The baroque core was reworked several times and only took its present shape in a rebuild around 1910. The whole site now serves health and rehabilitation, and rooms built for show have been adapted to that new purpose.
