Zámek Hnojník
Czechia
Hnojník's château stands in the middle of the village, on the Stonávka river in the Frýdek-Místek district, and the first thing to grasp is that you are looking at layers rather than a single building. A fortified manor, a tvrz, is said to have stood here as early as the 15th century, owned by Stašek of Hnojník. In the 16th century it passed to Václav Pelhřim of Třanovice, who became governor of the Duchy of Teschen in 1565, and in the 17th century to the Wildau of Lindenwiese family. The name that stuck, though, is Bees of Chrostina. Karel Václav Bees bought the manor in 1736 and had it rebuilt as a one-storey Baroque château.
