Zámek Telč

Czechia

You reach the château through the town itself, on the square named after Zachariáš of Hradec, the man who made it what you see. The building sits above a meander of the Telč brook, between the Ulický and Štěpnický ponds, so water is never far from view. Since 1992 it has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List together with the historic centre of Telč, and in 1995 the whole château complex was declared a national cultural monument. It belongs to the state, is run by the National Heritage Institute, and is open to the public.
