Zámek Vizovice
Czechia
You find the château right in the middle of Vizovice, about 15 kilometres from Zlín, and its shape announces its century before any guide does: a two-storey main building with three wings forming a U, laid out in what was then the fashionable French Baroque manner. It went up in stages between 1747 and 1778, at the initiative of Heřman Hannibal Blümegen, later bishop of Hradec Králové, to a design by the architect František Antonín Grimm. Today it belongs to the state, is managed by the National Heritage Institute, was declared a national cultural monument in 2001, and is open to the public.
